Without

Today is day 39 for my boyfriend to be living in Denver, searching for work.
Since he's been gone:

  • My hand got stabbed with a rusty metal wire.
  • I was in a car accident. (Nothing major: bumper-bumping, mostly.)
  • I had to fight a fire on my family's chunk of rural land. (Firefighters were notified.)
  • My heirloom tomato seedlings declined just as they were starting to thrive.
  • And in a final coup, last night's maelstrom wind dumped over the tray they were planted in.
  • I have not read a single work in its entirety for my lit class.
  • I have not studied for anything in anatomy. (Though I have a laboratory practical this week, and my second test in that class since his departure is next Tuesday.)
  • I had my first stove-top fire when something in the burner tray ignited. (Hooray for lids and salt!)
  • I broke a step on my parents' porch.
  • ...but at least I returned my library books on time.
