Onward

There has been much happen in my life since the last post, but not much to say. I fear this post may become more of a diary entry than anything. Oh well. It's an update to my boring life.

I got a two-week viral infection. That was fun. Sore throats, congestion, hardly having a voice... The stupid thing made me call in to Target for the first time, which did not make me happy. The medicine that the doctor gave me gave me funky side-effects, including headaches, sore throat (after the initial symptomatic one went away!), vision issues, and eye pain, so I stopped using it after four days. Yep, I spent $18 on a medicine with 50 doses in it and used only 8. Isn't that awesome? On top of that, I don't think it's entirely gone. The cough hasn't gone away, the tiredness is still here, and the nasal swelling has returned. (The latter is probably because I am not using my $18 corticosteroid anymore.) The cough is getting worse, too. It was better, but now it's getting worse. My luck it's probably my stupid seasonal allergies kicking in. Great.

Bailey and I went to Denver last weekend to see my honey and part of his family. It was great to see him. I didn't get as much done as I wanted to, though: I was on the tail-end of the cold and the sleepiness kicked in majorly. It was still a great weekend though. And Bailey showed how much of a good girl she can be! She got on fabulously with O'Malley, the new puppy, and Angus. Well, okay, there were a few tense moments with Angus, but it's all about establishing order, right? In fact, once she got to know them both, she was as happy as could be. When Jake and I went to see a movie on Sunday afternoon, though, she did not like it at all. Jake's uncle said she barked nearly the entire time we were gone, unless he was in the room with her. I guess there were a few times that he went elsewhere to change laundry over or check email, but when he was in the living room, reading, she laid down just as happy as ever. Our absence forced her to get acquainted with the dog door, and she happily went through it as she darned well pleased for the remainder of our stay. She also revealed that she can jump on Jake's bed. We'll still probably invest in a lower bed frame when we move in together, though, because she won't be able to do that as she ages.

My cousin went to Texas nearly two weeks ago to have a "vacation" with her carnival-food serving buddies. She was also going to work with them and "earn extra money" while she was there. Well, a week ago Saturday, she unexpectedly gave birth to her twins a few days before her 30th week. The one who had been having problems did not, unfortunately, make it: Matthew was stillborn. The other little guy, Avery, is still in NICU. He was not in an incubator at first, but is now, and is improving every day. His lungs, I guess, were the major concern. She's now in the process of getting everything worked out so they can all come back to Colorado.
There's also some issue with her possibly being allowed to keep Avery. I don't want to get into too many details here, but Social Services in TX asked if she were not able to parent him if there was someone in the family who would. She said yes. I don't know to whom she's referring, but I'd be thrilled if I were on the short list. It would be a major step, and there would be monumental challenges, but I could do it. I would be willing to do it.

I have applied for a few more jobs. One in Denver, one in Ft. Collins, one in Loveland, and one in Greeley. I hope that one of them will hit something. Jacob applied for an awesome job in Greeley that would be right up his alley, and would let him know if teaching truly is something he should pursue or not. I cannot believe it is just a few short weeks and he will be back up in this part of the world again. He will be under extreme pressure and stress, but he will be here. I could (maybe) help keep him calm. Not that he hulks out when he's stressed, but he does brood a lot.

Things at home got kinda testy this week. Again. It's getting really old.
Oh, and the goats' fence got (kinda) fixed, so they are wandering free now. They seem happy about it. Or did, until Pudding got out and mom changed his name to Houdini.
Then, the horse got out today. Someone left the pasture gate open during the night and he went down the road and was with some other horses at a neighbor's, just munching on their hay. Mom took some carrots down when they went to wrangle and rope Gypsy to bring him back home, and the neighbor didn't seem to be too upset. Gypsy's now in the goat pen.
This is all on top of Pacer getting out, too. It seems the only animal who stays put is Bailey, and I am completely satisfied with that! I do not want her learning the bad habits of mom and dad's dog, no way. I have already lost a pet to the road; it will not happen again.
All of this, by the way, is not what has gone wrong this week. These are just complications and do not merit me crying in the bathroom, as the real issues have made me do.

Oh well.
Breathe in, breathe out. Onward.

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday.
Well, technically, today is Easter Sunday, since it's over half past midnight.
There's a lunch at gran's house of ham, potatoes, & deviled eggs. To that, we are bringing peach pie, veggies (asparagus and, for the non-asparagus-fans, corn), stuffing, rolls, and no-bake cheesecake.
I'll be getting those things prepared while mom's at work and dad's at church.
Over the last few days, I have felt a pull to go to church tomorrow, but I don't think I will. I would like to, but if we are to have dinner around noon, that's impossible, as either of the churches my family attends will not get out until noon or after, and that's a lot of cooking to be doing right after service, when the intention was to eat.
Someday, I hope to attend the sunrise service at Red Rocks. Oh man. Hashtag: dreaming.
