Lovely Day

Today has been lovely so far.

The pain in my ear has not been too much to deal with. (Oh, wait. You don't know about any of that. Let me explain: last Thursday I started having pain in my jaw. I thought it was my wisdom tooth flaring up --it happens on occasion every couple of months and lasts for about three days-- and so I took some ibuprofen and just waited for things to even out. When the weekend came, I was out of ibuprofen and the pain was worse. A trip to the closest urgent care room revealed that it was an inner-ear problem: more precisely a clogged Eustachian tube, that lovely tube that depressurizes ["pops"] your ear when you fly or drive in the mountains. So, I've been treating it with ibuprofen --I had to get more-- and Mucinex since Saturday.) I have actually been able to eat today, though I had still some difficulty opening my mouth wide enough for the tuna sandwich. But, the mobility of my jaw seems to get better day after day, and the pain seems to ebb more every day. I know the doctor said "up to a week" but this is getting really old.

Bailey woke up at 6:45 this morning. It was still raining when we went out for our morning business trip, and it was not as chilly as I was expecting. I was surprised that Miss-Miss dawdled as much as she did because she hasn't historically liked rain, but she was nonetheless soaked when we got back inside. She happily went back into the room with me, but whined for a while because she wanted to be let out to play with Pacer and say hello to (aka: wake up) my parents, things she is used to doing.

Today I vetoed that because it was too early for such things. She finally gave up the ghost, bathed, and went to sleep. We woke up in time to see my mom off before she went to work, and then I went back to bed. (It is my Saturday, after all, and I am recovering.)

The rain stopped at some point before I woke up, and the birds have been singing and warbling and tweeting like crazy today. You'd think it was spring or something, the way they're synthesizing their symphony. It's lovely.

It's been mostly overcast today, too, which adds to the atmosphere.
And, it's stayed cool, which is so welcome.
(I'm hoping the rain returns, too.)

Tomorrow I am off to Denver.
To see my love. To see (some of) his family.
To do some shopping.

I hope tomorrow will be just as lovely.

Expectations

What is it with expectations in this society? As a student of anthropology, I am convinced it's a part of our culture. That being s...
